Job description

Peoplemark is seeking a warehouse supervisor for our client in Saint Clair MI.
Role Summary

Under the direction of the Materials Manager, responsible for all aspects of the Materials Warehouse. Plans, directs and coordinates activities including safety, quality, productivity and employee relations. Supervises the Materials department’s Team Leaders and Material Handling team

Key Responsibilities

• Supervises daily activities of the Materials department’s Team Leaders, Warehouse hilo drivers and Tugger/Sequencing teams
• Plans, directs and coordinates all warehouse and line side movement of material within the JIT manufacturing facility.
• Ensures all shifts have proper staffing at all times. Communicates need for new job postings; and coordinates employee transfers and communicates timing.
• Facilitates training of new and transferred employees on their job duties and responsibilities; and cross trains as necessary, Maintains Departmental Training Records.
• Assists in managing material cycle counts and annual physical inventory reconciliation.
• Creates purchase requisitions for warehouse items (supplies, maintenance work orders, etc).
• Audits Materials Warehouse systems to ensure processes are followed (pre-shifts, incoming audits, yard management).
• Ensures employees are consistently adhering to standardized work processes and rotation schedules. Audits and maintains accurate Standardize Work Instructions/JES’s at all times.
• Follows up on day to day issues with employees and union.
• Generates and implements warehouse improvements in safety, efficiency, inventory accuracy and housekeeping.
• Develops and maintains Materials Job Evaluation Sheets (JES).
• Develops and tracks internal key measurements for Materials team’s performance.
• Ensures all Company policies, procedures, plant standards and safety rules are consistently adhered to.
• Collaborates with the Department Manager and Human Resources Manager in the administration of disciplinary action, when necessary.
• Monitors, maintains and records employees’ time related to the Attendance and Time-Off Policies (e.g. vacation, medical day, bereavement, jury duty, etc). Records approved time-off requests in ADP; and ensures required time-off requests with supporting documentation are processed completely and timely.
• Provides timely feedback on work performance including but not limited to safety/housekeeping, quality/accuracy, quantity, attendance/punctuality, job knowledge, adaptability, initiative, teamwork/communication and judgment/comprehension. Ensures timely completion of performance reviews based on established schedule.
• Supports and enforces the principles of the Employee Charter, Company goals and objectives, and decisions and policies by taking ownership and communicating these in a positive and supportive manner.
• Takes an active part in the division’s safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly, and assists in meeting or exceeding the division’s safety goals.
• Reports injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and properly damage immediately to your Supervisor.
• Compiles with all Health, safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the Employee Charter, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:

Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone, fax machine, copier/printer, and a projector.

EDUCATION:

• High School diploma or equivalent. Powered Industrial Truck Permit

TECHNICAL TRAINING:

• Powered Industrial Truck Permit

OTHER:

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of five (7) years of materials supervisory experience in a tier-one automotive manufacturing facility.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team oriented, communicates well with others, and able to interact with people at all levels and departments.
• Excellent problem solving and leadership skills.
• Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills.
• Working knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelines.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MRP.
