A flagger directs traffic safely around road work, manages public safety, and protects construction crews. Key expectations include maintaining high-visibility safety gear, staying alert to traffic hazards, and using clear hand signals.
Core Responsibilities
  • Traffic Control: Direct vehicles using stop/slow paddles, flags, or illuminated wands.
  • Safety Monitoring: Watch for fast-moving or distracted drivers and warn nearby work crews of danger.
  • Equipment Setup: Place and remove traffic cones, warning signs, and barricades.
  • Public Communication: Give clear, polite instructions to drivers and pedestrians while remaining focused on the road
Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Standing Long Hours: Stand on uneven terrain for shifts lasting 8 to 12+ hours.
  • All-Weather Work: Work outdoors through extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • High Alertness: Maintain sharp vision, good hearing, and quick reflexes to dodge dangerous traffic
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Certification: Hold a valid state-approved or ATSSA Flagger Certification.
  • Screening: Pass pre-employment drug tests and background or motor vehicle checks.
  • Gear Compliance: Wear ANSI-compliant high-visibility vests, hard hats, and steel-toe boots
  • Valid Driver’s License
Work Site: On location - Bowling Green, KY
Candidate Must travel to and from work site themselves. (carpooling can also be an option at times)
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour (paid weekly)
Flagger Certification/Training: provided by client
